Organized by IBTO as part of its activities for WHO Collaborating Center on Research & Training on Blood Safety, a three-day workshop on “Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in Blood Transfusion” was held on 15-17 May, 2017.
The objective of the program was to strengthen and upgrade the technical expertise and information of Regulatory Authorities and National Blood Programmes on GMP to assure the quality and safety of blood components, including plasma for fractionation;
The theoretical-practical workshop was conducted by IBTO Deputy for Quality Control and Quality Assurance. While the first day included speaking on different subjects ranging from quality control, health and occupational safety to audit/inspection non-conformity and deficiency, the second and third days were based on group activities in Tehran Blood Transfusion center.
The directors of national or regional blood services and technical experts from Iraq, Libya, Oman and Afghanistan attended the event.
